Energy Savings for Commercial Buildings

Building automation systems (BAS) such as Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) for HVAC systems have traditionally helped facility managers reduce energy consumption by using schedules or sensors to approximate building occupancy and adjusting ventilation accordingly. However, scheduling, motion, thermal, and CO2 sensors often miscalculate or misinterpret the actual real-time occupancy rates, leading to wasted energy.

In this case study by Feedback Solutions Inc., BAS operators will learn:

  • Why traditional HVAC sensors often fall short in calculating true building occupancy and delivering required ventilation
  • How sensor algorithms and error correction techniques can be leveraged to optimize energy consumption in automated HVAC systems
