ew 2024: DFI’s Demos Latest Embedded Systems Offerings

Jarry Chang, Product Center General Manager at DFI, a leading supplier of computing technology, showcases how it is working with Intel to integrate the latest edge AI technologies into its solutions for customers at embedded world 2024.

Transcript

How are you seeing embedded systems architectures continuing to evolve?

Jarry Chang: You just recall 15 years ago, what you can find in your backpack? Maybe one camera, one MP3 player, and a navigation device, or any gaming device. But what you could have in your backpack, you only have one smartphone in your pocket. And in your pocket you will have only camera app, and your Google app, and also you will have, you got a video and online game. So it’s since change, this call, we will call this CPU centralize and neutralize. So now we want to apply this to a new, next generation IoT. We can then apply the similar architecture, that we can let a CPU be neutralized and centralized to do different things, could be more flexible for future development, and for various challenges for different kind of purpose and application.

What is DFI demonstrating at embedded world 2024?

Jarry Chang: We have a, you can see the machine is for the one CPU for multi OS. And what that mean, we can see this whole machine, we provide five OS independently. So we have one OS in the back, is for Android. And this one is Windows. And also we running two AI to do the large language model, often like customer service center. So, and also we have a facial detection. And all just apply and done by local CPU, local graphic. And we want to apply this, because customer maybe have a different requirement from their customer. So make it easy to adapt different OS, then they can have a flexibility to deploy different kind of environment to this machine. And also, we want to apply this one with better power efficiency. And if you run this five purpose with separate device, you will find if we run only with a single hardware, the power consumption is much lower. So because now everyone talk about the energy saving, talk about the sustainability, talk about ESG, need to take care about environmental, society, and the governments, we just let the customer know if you consolidate the CPU, consolidate the the hardware, it will help you to have a better performance per watt. Then you can buy different kind of structure. You can do things better with better power efficiency. That’s what we want to introduce to customer.

What role does Intel technology play in DFI’s offerings?

Jarry Chang: Yeah, so we want to let customer know, we have a very strong relationship and partnership with Intel. And this time, Intel just provide a large language model to DFI. And also we will cooperate to build different large language model to different kind of application in the future. And we hope with Intel technology we can help the customer to quickly help the engineer to know how to build different kind of AI solution. And based on existing or offshore and also turnkey solution, they can easily connect and integrate with their current solution, because the engineer of our current solution may be not really familiar with AI, but we can help them to link to the right platform and link to the right software environment and easy for them to integrate and enter the AI world.

Tell us more about the product you have on display.

Jarry Chang: This one we call a workload consolidation technology for EV charging machine. This one is support by Intel® Raptor Lake i9 and also Intel® Arc A38O GPUs. And also we have our management system to do the auto event system. And also we can let, in the future, I know another event for the IoT is remote management. And also this machine we can support remote management, because most IoT in the future will be autonomous. So the remote management ability will be very important for current solution transit to the future solution. And because the people resource is limited, and also if you want to have a better RMA or repair cost, you need to have a remote management to help you to cost down for repairman, because you don’t want to send engineer to repair your machine, because your machine may be spread out to anywhere, to the high mountain or even offshore. So that’s very important. And also this machine with the technology of different kind of combination, we want the customer know we DFI’s ready to the next generation AIoT application. Yeah.
