CES (Consumer Electronics Show)

When: Jan 8-11

Where: Las Vegas, Nevada

What: CES is one of the world’s biggest conferences, having outgrown its roots in consumer electronics to become an all-encompassing tech show.

This year’s event has come and gone, but don’t worry—you can find out what happened at this massive tech fest by reading our blog on everything IoT at CES and scrolling through our Twitter highlights.

MWC Barcelona (formerly Mobile World Congress)

When: Feb 25-28

Where: Barcelona, Spain

What: MWC Barcelona is another show that has grown far beyond its humble beginnings. While mobile connectivity is still the foundation of the event—with 5G taking a starring role this year—the conference now encompasses everything from robotics to venture capital.

For 2019, the show has been rebranded to reflect this evolution. So don’t call it Mobile World Congress! To drive home the point, key themes of MWC include:

  • AI
  • Industry 4.0
  • Digital Wellness

Suffice it to say that there are plenty of amazing IoT ideas at this year’s MWC Barcelona.

embedded world

When: Feb 26-28

Where: Nuremberg, Germany

What: Quite possibly the most important IoT event of the year, embedded world is an incredible showcase of the latest IoT and embedded technology. (And yes, the show name is meant to be all lowercase.)

Industrial automation is the main event focus, with AI a predominant theme for 2019.

Hannover Messe

When: Apr 1-5

Where: Hannover, Germany

What: Following shortly on the heels of embedded world, Hannover Messe continues the focus on industrial automation. Key themes of the 2019 show include:

  • Decentralized power generation
  • AI
  • Cobots
  • 5G

When: May 28-June 1

Where: Taipei, Taiwan

What: One of the oldest tech shows, COMPUTEX remains a must-attend event for manufacturing and supply chain organizations. For 2019, the conference is expanding its space for IoT, with an entire floor dedicated to applications like video surveillance, interactive displays, and smart retail.

IoT Solutions World Congress

When: Oct 29-31

Where: Barcelona, Spain

What: The name says it all: Of the shows on our list, the IOT Solutions World Congress is the one most obviously focused on IoT. Key themes of the show include:
