Envisioning the Edge to the Cloud at embedded world

The last day of embedded world is always more relaxed, giving us an opportunity to catch up on the great tech we missed during the first two hectic days of the event.

The Green Hills Software team demonstrated their expertise with multiple educational session presentations. One that really caught our eye was about the ins and outs of virtualization systems like virtual machine monitors or hypervisors. These techniques are a current trend in embedded systems for executing heterogeneous workloads on modern processors or SoCs, so a very timely discussion.

At the company’s stand (Hall 4 / 4-325) it showed how embedded designers can streamline the deployment of secure, high performance software. The company helps developers build deeply embedded, high-reliability applications on the latest processors for military/avionics, medical, industrial, and other markets that demand industry-certified solutions.

Kontron is presenting a host of solutions including IoT edge computers and edge server computing designed for a range of applications including AI, machine learning, image processing and gateways.

One special focus is on its Intelligent Edge Computing and IoT Gateways and the S&T Technologies SUSiEtec IoT Software Framework for Cloud Computing. Connecting devices at the booth with the Microsoft Azure Cloud, there will be several live demos showing motor control with TSN and OPC UA.

Plus, there will be examples of machine learning for object recognition with AI at the edge, based on Intel® OpenVINO™ middleware in combination with Intel® Core™ processors and the neural compute engine Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™. You can catch all this at the Intel booth in Hall 1 / 1-338.

Advantech is showing off its all-in-one system embedded vision systems that covers both the manufacturing and packaging processes.
